02 · Source-linked memory
Remember the source, the revision and the reason.
Cortex is the memory component within Menexus. It is designed to keep evidence, relationships and accepted changes connected over time.

More than the latest answer.
A useful record keeps the original source, the relevant version, what it supports and what changed. A summary or search index helps find evidence; it does not become the source of truth.
- Sources
- Keep exact references to the evidence behind a statement.
- History
- Preserve accepted versions, corrections and their relationships.
- Disagreement
- Keep unresolved conflicts visible rather than smoothing them into one answer.
A conversation is not automatically memory.
The intended workflow separates a suggestion from an accepted change. Review the evidence and decide what belongs in the durable record. Acceptance records a project decision; it does not prove a claim about the outside world.
Build the record before promising adaptation.
Development sources describe bounded local record foundations. Adaptive retrieval, integrated product access and cross-client continuity still require evidence. Brain-inspired association is a design direction, not a claim of consciousness or biological equivalence.
